We are pleased to announce that Juniper has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Trapeze Networks, a technology leader in enterprise wireless local area network (WLAN) systems and management software. The acquisition will make WLAN infrastructure a key part of Juniper’s portfolio and help accelerate our growth in the enterprise market.

Trapeze brings not only proven technology, but also a strong team with deep industry knowledge and expertise in a market that is projected to grow to more than $3.4 billion by 2014. Their unique strengths help Juniper deliver the most scalable, secure and highly-available wired and wireless infrastructure for enterprise customers. 

This acquisition offers significant competitive advantages:

  • Trapeze’s capabilities complement Juniper’s wireline products and expertise, offering highly available integrated and simplified enterprise WLAN capability.
  • This is an important component in our campus strategy and is critical to Juniper’s differentiation of delivering end-to-end wired and wireless switching infrastructure (In a Gartner Group survey of vendor references, more than 60% purchased their WLAN solutions from the same vendors as their wired LAN. Roughly half of these decisions were made as part of a single decision process.)
  • The acquisition will make WLAN infrastructure a key part of our portfolio, helping to accelerate the company’s growth in the enterprise market and advancing our vision for the new network. Trapeze provides the highest levels of WLAN reliability, performance, security and management for today’s most demanding mobile applications.  Their innovative WLAN technology is highly complementary to our campus and branch switching, routing and security business and can provide a seamless, high-quality, and secure user experience to a mobile workforce.
